Former InterCool board member and accomplished industry expert steps into leadership role to support continued company growth
RF Investment Partners, a provider of structured growth capital, and portfolio company InterCool USA, LLC (“InterCool”), are pleased to announce the appointment of Jim Walsh as Chief Executive Officer. InterCool is a leader in industrial refrigeration and initially partnered with RF in June 2019.
Walsh is a seasoned global executive with an impressive track record of growing businesses and delivering results in complex, dynamic environments. With an extensive background in global architecture, engineering, construction, MEP (“mechanical, electrical, and plumbing”), and technology, Walsh specializes in driving success through implementing world-class strategy and consistent processes. He currently serves as an independent board member for GBA Companies and is an advisory board member at Smart City Works and the STRAAM Group. Walsh also founded WBG Group and recently served as President of Universal Engineering Sciences, the fastest-growing AEC firm in the country. He has previously served in various C-suite positions, such as COO/CFO at Degree One and CEO at MetroTech HVAC Service.
“I am thrilled to step into the CEO role and continue to work alongside the InterCool team, as well as partner with the world-class folks at RF,” said Walsh. “As the intricacies of transporting food around the U.S. become more complex and the food logistics industry continues to be a challenge, we recognize a massive opportunity to chart new horizons of growth and expansion for the company. I look forward to embarking on this journey and collectively writing the next chapter of InterCool’s story.”
Founded in 1977, InterCool is dedicated to furthering the industrial refrigeration industry through new technology, superior practices, and inspired innovation. Backed by The InterCool Advantage, the company supports its customers through a nationwide footprint, completing projects in 46 states over the last three years. The company has seen tremendous growth since its partnership with RF in 2019, supporting the expansion of its capabilities, including the opening of a new fabrication-compressor repair facility. The combined strengths of Intercool’s construction division, the depth and breadth of its national service capacity, and its knowledgeable sales and marketing team have led to the company’s advancement from a small, local provider to a company with a national footprint and Fortune 500 client list.
“While evaluating candidates for the CEO position, Jim stood out due to his extensive background in leadership, foundational expertise in the industry, and seamless cultural fit — as well as his familiarity with the company infrastructure and management team, having served on the InterCool board since 2022,” said RF Co-Founder and Managing Partner Peter Rothschild. “The team at RF is confident that Jim will thrive in his new role and steward the momentum set forth at InterCool to best serve its national customer base.”
